Beloved Dr Opocensky! May the grace and peace of our God the Father and of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. By this patriarchal letter we wish to extend to your beloved reverence our deepest thanks for inviting the Ecumenical Patriarchate to the 23rd general council of your Alliance and secondly to express our fervent patriarchal wishes for its success. Our deepest wish is that the findings and resolutions of the conference will enable you to further strengthen the Reformed bonds around the world, giving at the same time a new impetus to the theological dialogue between the Orthodox Church and the churches of the Reformation. The Ecumenical Patriarchate would like to emphasize that the fraternal intercourse and fruitful cooperation between Orthodox and Reformed in the common endeavour to promote Christian reconciliation and unity is subject to deep satisfaction. We are therefore confident that with the help of God our common journey towards the Lord will continue "until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God" (Eph 4.13). With these thoughts and expectations, we wish all the participants of this council strength from above in the fulfilment of their tasks, bestowing upon them, upon your reverence and your esteemed colleagues our hearty patriarchal blessings. May the grace and the infinite mercy of God be with you all.
