Dimitrios I
Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople

Grace and Peace from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ

In Seoul

On the occasion of the gathering of the WARC general council, we address you all from the Ecumenical Patriarchate with feeling of honour and much love in Christ. At the same time we wish you to accomplish the purposes of your conference, for the advancement of the Reformed churches of the world and of the Christian church in general.

Through our communication at this important occasion, I would like to mention with great pleasure the theological dialogue which has started and continues successfully between our two ecclesiastical worlds; and which is the result of the contemporary ecumenical movement, and specifically the mutual desire for a better understanding and unity among us. We wish this dialogue to bring us closer towards the complete communion in the one apostolic faith and tradition, and the common witnessing of our faith, to the glory of God.

With this hope and prayer we greet your beloved assembly, wishing blessings for your work, and praying for God's grace and the abundant mercy of the Lord for your council.
