The general council of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches expresses its concern for the just settlement of land claims made by the aboriginal peoples of Canada. The general council further strongly urges the federal and provincial governments to respond with speed and equity to these claims, and to conduct negotiations in good faith without imposed restrictions.

Further, the general council urges the government of Canada to take no action which will alienate aboriginal land in any fashion, and only proceed with resource development in northern territories when aboriginal land claims have been settled.
