      Beth Marcus

Beth Marcus is a laywoman who has made an outstanding contribution to the life of the Reformed Church in America (RCA), carving out a place for herself and other women in a male-dominated culture. During her thirty-three years of service with the RCA, she has demonstrated "passion for mission, love for God and a deep commitment to the church and its people". In 1992 she was the first woman to be elected president of her church.

In the early 1950s, Beth was one of two female RCA staff members. She served for fifteen years on the Board of Domestic Missions, bringing her talents and skills especially to the areas of leadership, fundraising, and recruiting and training volunteers, including missionaries. She is recognized for her creativity in drawing on the resources of women in her church.

Now in retirement, Beth loves to reminisce on all the joys and blessings poured into her life through her journey with the church. We honour her contribution to the Reformed family and draw from her strength and diligence as we too strive to overcome barriers and to recognize the gifts and talents of women in ministry and leadership.
